Mount Erica Part TwoHospitality
It’s always a pleasure to be asked back to the party and it’s doubly as good when it’s because a venue you designed, is going so well, they simply need more space to accommodate all the people dying to get in. This is a great problem to have and one we loved solving.
Adjacent to the existing dining room, we designed another zone that is able to hold the overflow from this area, as well as be able to act as a separate function space. This space can then be further divided to house two individual functions within. Due to the myriad of uses the space needed to accommodate, we designed many elements of custom joinery that did the heavy lifting of multiple jobs. From waiter stations that were also screens to Storage cupboards that dividing walls could disappear into. The clever layout (if we say so ourselves), combined with problem solving joinery and specific use of finishes, made all these often-conflicting needs possible.
This new area retains stylistic elements of the existing dining area, but with small twists to give it a flair of its own. It still has the theatrical, looser, more filmic play of its neighbouring room, keeping the same colour palate, however the tartan motif transitions from the upholstery into the timber wall panelling and custom carpet. We continued to employ the genius of Industrial Designer Paul Grummisch from ‘Please Please Please’ to make the bespoke wall lights, and used Thonet once more to provide a place to park our behinds.
So next time you are after a bite to eat, or want to celebrate anything from your cousin’s 21st to your Great Aunt Jones 80th The Mt Erica Hotel has you covered.
